Starda

The village of starda was built around the year 1000, in the high-medieval era, probably founded by the Guidi Counts. Located in a strategic position along the road that leads to montevarchi, in the countryside of Arezzo, it was often disputed by Florentines and Sienese. Decayed from the fifteenth century, the village with the castle soon abandoned the defensive function, thus becoming more popular as a rest station for travelers, also thanks to the establishment of an important market.

In 1833 the hamlet of starda had 192 inhabitants. At the end of the 20th century, the village was transformed into a farm and wine.
